COVID-19 Masking & Visitation

COVID Masking & Visitation Update

Due to a growing COVID-19 positivity rate – currently at 32% based on BCH testing – we are adjusting our masking and visitation policy at the BCH hospital campus and off-site locations effective immediately.

 

Masks for Public / Patients

  • Everyone coming inside one of our facilities must wear a face mask. All patients and visitors are encouraged to wear a medical-grade face mask because they are more effective against the spread of the omicron variant than cloth masks, gaiters or bandanas.

Cafeteria:

  • Will be closed to the general public.
  • Will be open for employees, and for patients with appointments in the hospital.

Visitation/Support Person in Acute Care

  • Limited to 1 one person a day in Acute Care.
  • Acute Care patients can have a different person each day.
  • If patient is a minor, both parents will be allowed.
  • No visitors under the age of 18.
  • No visitors in COVID rooms.
    • We encourage family members to
      • Utilize the Friends & Family Portal
      • Call the room telephone number
      • Use personal devices
      • Send flowers or mail
  • End-of-life visitation will be made on a case-by-case basis by social worker or department director

Visitation in OB

  • One support person in OB.
  • No OB sibling visits.
  • If patient is a minor, both parents will be allowed.

Visitation in ED / Express Care

  • One healthy support person allowed with patient.
  • No other visitors allowed.
  • No support person/visitor in COVID rooms.
  • If patient is a minor, both parents will be allowed.

Support Person for clinic and outpatient (lab, diagnostic imaging, surgery etc.) visits

  • One healthy support person allowed.
  • If patient is a minor, both parents will be allowed.
  • Surgical case volume will be reviewed daily and determination/planning based off of staffing and census.
