BCH Earns Leadership Award
Beatrice Community Hospital is proud to share that it has earned the 2025 Chartis Performance Leadership Award. The Leadership Award was announced on Nov 20 – National Rural Health Day.
Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Award recognizes those hospitals that performed in the top 25 percent of rural hospitals in the areas of Quality, Outcomes and/or Patient Perspective.
This is the third year in a row that BCH was recognized in the Quality division and the second year in a row to earn recognition in the Outcomes division. BCH earned recognition in the patient perspective division in 2022.
The Quality category covers metrics such as
- Arrival to discharge times in the Emergency Department
- Percent of patients who leave the Emergency Department without being seen
- Hematoma rate
- Postoperative respiratory failure rate
- Deep vein thrombosis (blood clots) rate
- Postoperative sepsis rate
- Healthcare employee influenza rate
The Outcomes category covers metrics such as:
- 30-day pneumonia readmission rate
- 30-day heart failure readmission rate
- 30-day mortality rate for pneumonia
- 30-day mortality rate for heart failure
- 30-day hospital wide readmission rate
“The areas of quality, outcomes, and patient perspective are cornerstones of healthcare delivery across rural America, and this year’s Performance Leadership Award recipients are establishing a standard of excellence for their rural peers to follow,” said Michael Topchik, executive director, Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We are delighted to shine a spotlight on such strong performance and honor the achievement of these hospitals on National Rural Health Day.”
Earlier this year, BCH for the second year in a row also received recognition from Chartis and the National Rural Health Association as a Top 20 and Top 100 Critical Access Hospital.
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals are performing.
