Whitney Lopez, BCH Infection Prevention / Employee Health Supervisor, has earned Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology.

Individuals who earn CIC have demonstrated the knowledge, skills and abilities expected of professionals working in the field of infection prevention and control.

Lopez began her career in healthcare in 2016 as a Med/Surg and ICU nurse. She moved to the Infection Prevention Department in 2022 and became the supervisor in 2023.

CIC is a national board certification earned by passing a comprehensive exam through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology. It validates competency in epidemiology, surveillance, outbreak investigation, sterilization, transmission prevention, regulatory standards, and infection prevention leadership.

Certification is maintained through successful completion of examination or continuing education units every five years.
