Clinics Earn Age-Friendly Status

Congratulations to our Beatrice Family and Internal Medicine and Wymore Medical clinics for earning Age-Friendly Health Systems recognition!

The Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative, led by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and The John A. Hartford Foundation in partnership with the American Hospital Association and the Catholic Health Association of the United States, recognizes care settings that are working to reliably practice the “4Ms” framework for older adult care.

• What Matters. Know and align care with each older patient’s specific health outcome goals and care preferences, including, but not limited, to end-of-life care.
• Medications. Assessing all medications a patient is taking and how they may contribute to or hinder what matters most to the patient.
• Mobility. Ensure that older patients move safely every day in order to maintain function and do What Matters.
• Mentation. Prevent, identify, treat and manage dementia, depression and delirium.

With this designation, our clinics join a national movement of more than 5,200 hospitals, clinics and healthcare practices focused on improving the health and care experience of adults age 65 and older.

The process to earn this designation was led by Kayleigh Allen, Quality Population Health Manager, and Kelsey Rengstorf, Director of Clinics, and a team of dedicated clinical staff, including Anna Gronenthal, Michele Scott, Stacie Bohlmeyer, Mariah Dissmeyer, Crystal Dike, Amber Guiffre, Shannon Schidler, Chelsea Larmeu and Brittney Kotas.

“This recognition reinforces our dedication to providing high-quality, personalized care for older adults in Beatrice and surrounding communities,” Allen said. “By using the 4Ms framework, our teams can focus on the needs and priorities that matter most to each patient and their family.”

Allen led the process for the hospital’s designation as an Age-Friendly Health System in 2023.
