Beatrice Community Hospital is proud to announce that it has been named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for overall performance from among all critical access hospitals in the United States.
“We were honored to earn the Top 100 designation earlier this year, and even more honored to be included in the Top 20,” said Rick Haraldson, BCH CEO. “This recognition is a reflection of the passion and energy our staff have for providing the best care possible for our patients across all departments, service lines and clinics. I am incredibly proud of the efforts of our providers and staff who contributed to our hospital achieving this designation.”
The Top 20 CAHs scored best in overall performance among CAHs as determined by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. The rankings were recently announced by the National Rural Health Association. An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA’s Critical Access Hospital Conference in late September in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Top 20 CAHs have achieved success in overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indicators of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance. This group was selected from The Chartis Center for Rural Health’s 2024 Top 100 CAH list, which was released earlier this year. There are more than 1,350 CAHs nationally.
As a CAH, BCH employs more than 550 full- and part-time team members and has an active medical staff of nearly 60 providers.
The hospital has 25 inpatient beds, delivers more than 200 babies annually and offers an around-the-clock physician-staffed emergency department that treats more than 8,200 patients per year.
Haraldson said BCH is committed to retaining skilled employees and offering patients up-to-date technology, such as robotic surgery.
“This Top 20 designation is truly an honor,” Haraldson said. “I want our employees to feel proud about earning this recognition and I hope our community is proud of our hospital.”
Also named to the Top 20 list from Nebraska were: Antelope Memorial Hospital of Neligh and Boone County Health Center of Albion. Rounding out the list were hospitals in South Dakota, Montana, Iowa, Utah, North Dakota, New York, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Kansas, and Wyoming,
