Beatrice Community Hospital announced today it has been named a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in the United States by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
“I would like to congratulate our employees, providers and Board of Directors on this tremendous acknowledgement,” BCH CEO Rick Haraldson said. “They work hard every day to provide the best care possible for our patients and for our community. I could not be prouder.”
Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s critical access hospitals based on the results of its hospital performance index.
Beatrice Community Hospital’s 2024 index score and ranking was achieved through high marks in multiple categories, including patient care, outcomes, perspective, and cost. Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility had one of the 100 highest overall scores among 1,366 critical access hospitals nationally.
Haraldson said the recognition reflects the focus employees and providers have for community-based healthcare.
“This award validates the great work that our local team members do in caring for patients and residents in our community on an everyday basis,” Haraldson said.
BCH employs more than 550 full- and part-time team members and has an active medical staff of nearly 60 providers.
The hospital has 25 inpatient beds, delivers more than 200 babies annually and offers an around-the-clock emergency department that treats more than 8,200 patients per year.
Haraldson said BCH is committed to retaining skilled employees and staying up to date with technology, such as robotic surgery.
“This is really an honor,” said Haraldson. “I want our employees to feel proud about earning this award and I hope our community is proud of our hospital.”
