BCH Offers Outpatient Lactation Services

Beatrice Community Hospital now offers outpatient lactation services for new mothers.

Brooke Jensen, a longtime experienced occupational therapist in the BCH Rehabilitation Department, is now certified as an Outpatient Lactation Consultant.

After mom and baby are dismissed from the hospital, it can be helpful to have further support for a successful breastfeeding experience. BCH Outpatient Lactation Consultant Brooke Jensen can answer questions and assist mom and baby for a successful breastfeeding experience, such as:

• Understanding how breastfeeding works
• How to position and latch baby for nursing
• Provide instruction on how to pump, collect and store breast milk
• Understand growth of baby while breastfeeding.

Jensen is available for appointments Monday through Friday. Contact your baby’s primary care provider for a referral. Most insurances and Medicaid covers outpatient lactation services.
