The BCH Diabetes Self-Management Education Program has been awarded American Diabetes Association Recognition for another three years.

Earning ADA Education Recognition is a voluntary process which assures participants that an organization’s diabetes program has met the national standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Services.

Self-management education is an essential component of diabetes treatment. Participants in an ADA Recognized Program develop an individualized plan focused on self-care skills that promote better management of his or her diabetes treatment regimen, with the goals of increasing knowledge of diabetes, improving overall health and preventing acute and chronic complications of diabetes.

Our BCH Diabetes Team includes Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator Sue Schouboe and Registered Dietitian and Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist Abby Newhouse.

The Certificate of Recognition is valid from Dec. 22, 2023, through December 22, 2027.
