BCH Hires Athletic Trainer

BCH hired Certified Athletic Trainer Lindsay Augustine to provide athletic training services for practices and home sporting events for BHS and SCC-Beatrice beginning this fall. She will work with the schools’ athletic directors to create a schedule that covers as many sports and home games as possible.

Eric Trusty, senior executive for clinical services, said that due to a void in the full-time availability of an athletic trainer, BPS and SCC reached out to BCH to develop a partnership in the recruitment and hiring of a trainer for the schools.

“Our goal is to ensure local student-athletes receive the treatment they need close to home,” Trusty said. “It’s an opportunity to partner with the schools to extend our orthopedic and rehabilitation services to these student-athletes.”

In her role as the athletic trainer, she will work with students on the prevention, evaluation, emergency aid, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

“I love being able to help an athlete who has been struggling with an injury and helping them get back to playing,” Augustine said. “I especially like to watch the kids grow and to succeed both on and off the field/court. I enjoy getting to celebrate with them – the small wins as well as the big ones.”

Raised in Ellis, Kansas, Augustine said she was always active in sports. She earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, and her master’s in healthcare administration from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. She worked as a college student athletic trainer during her time at Kansas State University and most recently worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Stillwater High School, Stillwater, Oklahoma, while obtaining her master’s degree.

Augustine lives in Washington, Kansas, with her fiancé and is planning a wedding for June 2024.
