BCH Named Top 20 Hospital Second Year in a Row
Beatrice Community Hospital is excited to announce that it has been named a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for the second year in a row. The recognition is for overall performance from among all Critical Access Hospitals in the United States.
“We were honored to earn the Top 20 and Top 100 designations last year in 2024, and it’s rewarding to be able to share that we’ve received both honors again this year,” Rick Haraldson, BCH CEO, said. “This recognition reflects the passion and energy our staff have for providing the best care possible for our patients across all departments, service lines and clinics. I am incredibly proud of the efforts of our providers and staff who contributed to our hospital achieving this designation.”
The Top 20 Critical Access Hospital honor is presented by the National Rural Health Association to the top 20 highest ranked hospitals. The Top 20 are chosen from among the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals which were named in February by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
The Chartis Center utilizes its Rural Hospital Performance INDEX of publicly available data sets to quantify overall hospital performance in eight pillars - inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance - among nearly 1,400 critical access hospitals nationally. A hospital's overall score determines its ranking.
As a CAH, BCH employs more than 550 full- and part-time team members and has an active medical staff of nearly 60 providers.
The hospital has 25 inpatient beds, delivers more than 200 babies annually and offers an around-the-clock physician-staffed emergency department that treats more than 8,200 patients per year. Haraldson said BCH is committed to retaining skilled employees and offering patients up-to-date technology, such as robotic surgery. “This Top 20 designation is truly an honor,” Haraldson said. “I want our employees to feel proud about earning this recognition and I hope our community is proud of our hospital.”
A commemorative award will be presented at the National Rural Health Association's Critical Access Hospital Conference Sept. 24-26 in Kansas City, Mo.
